Morrigan "Yaayaaginaxíx" Shaw
San Francisco State University – Anthropology

Morrigan Shaw, a member of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska, was the first student to be awarded San Francisco State University's new B.A. in American Indian Studies.  Her interests include preservation of traditional environmental knowledge (TEK), protection of native sovereignty, the repatriation of ancestral remains and sacred items, and other issues of cultural revitalization and preservation.  After graduating from UCLA's Master's program in American Indian Studies she plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Anthropology, with the goal of becoming a Professor of American Indian Studies.
