Fernando Martinez
UCLA – Political Science w/American Indian Studies minor

Fernando Martinez graduated from the University of California – Los Angeles in 2007, with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in American Indian Studies. While at UCLA as an undergraduate, Fernando volunteered as a mentor and tutor with American Indian Recruitment at the Southern California Indian Center. He was also a volunteer at UCLA’s Fowler Museum, where he worked under the guidance of Dr. Wendy Teeter in various capacities to insure UCLA’s compliance with NAGPRA regulations. Fernando’s interests include issues dealing with NAGPRA and American Indian intellectual property as well as the history of American Indian activism. After completing his M.A., Fernando plans to pursue a Ph.D. and eventually become a professor in the field of American Indian Studies.
